About Black Raven

A service-disabled veteran-owned integrator that designs, installs and maintains the security systems federal agencies depend on.

The Black Raven Security raven

We bring the discipline of a large federal program to the responsiveness of a small business: practitioners who have run enterprise security programs, now answering the phone themselves.

Black Raven Security was founded in 2019 in Mechanicsville, Maryland. We integrate and maintain physical access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and integrated security management systems for federal agencies, and we compete for that work on equal terms: two of our prime contracts were won in full and open competition.

We also build our own tools. Our technicians work from the same calculators published in the ESS Toolbox, our service calls and preventive maintenance run in Field Tech, and our capture work runs in Paralynx.

BidSpeed's FY26 Small Business Security Company of the Year.

Before Black Raven he built a career on the integrator side of federal security: Lenel systems work at Convergint, then Chenega Security International, where he rose from systems administrator to senior operations manager, business development manager and quality assurance manager on an enterprise HSPD-12 security program covering more than 220 buildings.

He holds the Project Management Professional and Certified System Engineer ICAM PACS credentials.

How a project runs

The same five phases on a two-door upgrade and a campus-wide system. The paperwork scales; the discipline does not.

  1. 01

    Initiation

Kick-off, communication rhythm, stakeholders confirmed, and certified partners lined up before anyone climbs a ladder.

  2. 02

    Planning

Site survey, requirements, design and bill of materials, with the project, quality and risk plans that go with them.

  3. 03

    Execution

Install, integrate and commission, coordinating technicians and subcontractors inside a building that has to stay open.

  4. 04

    Monitoring and control

Schedule, cost, scope and quality tracked against the plan, with changes controlled and status reported as it is, not as hoped.

  5. 05

    Closeout

As-built drawings, O&M manuals, administrator training and acceptance, then a clean handover to maintenance.
